"Noli turbare circulos meos" ~ Legendary last words of Archimedes

Thursday, October 23, 2003

My previous post was on sep . 23, 2003 and my next post will probably be on oct.23, 2004, It was a hectic month and that's that...............

Tomorrow (24th of october) is Deepaavali(Festival of Lights) and as usual it brings a lot of happy memories. I am planning to call home and some of my friends tonight. Dr. Murugu will be celebrating his first deepaavali after marriage(Thala Deepaavali), Velu's family will be celebrating with expectations(they are expecting their second baby), Dr. Barathan will be celebrating his success in getting into higher studies. My best wishes to them all............

On the JJCET side , most of our guys are settled well(with their job situation as far as guys are concerned and their marriage as far as girls are concerned( I guess!!)), My happy wishes to them all.....

On my job side , everything seems to be ok, I like what I am doing and the people I work with. I am eagerly waiting for my new machine(2.4GHZ, 512 MB , 40GB, DVD_CDRW combo drive , with a cool 17" flat screen display), I even cleared my otherwise paper filled desk for it. After I heard the new machine's config. , I am having some serious issues with my current machine, haha.............

The past month has been Robin Cook's month. I re-read a couple of his old books(Blind sight, Outbreak) and finished a couple of un-read books(Chromosome 6, Vector, Acceptable Risk) and the current running book is Abduction. Acceptable Risk spiked my interest in Salem Witch Trials , I have to get some more info. on it. Abduction is much more similar to Sphere(Michael Crichton). I also squeezed in Michael Crichton's new book - PREY. It was very nice, I liked it, it deals with nanotechnology and goal oriented parallel algorithm(Predator-Prey) in some extent and it seems so real........

There are a couple of movies out this week which I would like to see: The Runaway Jury( based on the book by Grisham) and Under the Tuscan Sun( based on the book by Frances Mayes), the reviews were good. At last I saw Contact(Jodi Foster) , the film doesn't do justice to the book(Carl Sagan).
